LEARNER CENTERED TUTORING
Adults come to our program for a variety of reasons. We
meet them where they are and strive toward helping them develop skills necessary
to make them successful and reach their goals.
Some of the things a
tutor may assist with are:
- Job related reading and writing
- Basic computer skills including Internet and e-mail
(Limited to
Literacy Program participants)
- Reading comprehension and vocabulary
- General civic knowledge and map skills
- Daily life math skills
- Capitalization and punctuation
- Using the library
- Phonics and spelling
- Reading aloud
- Handwriting
- Study skills
Success Stories
- Earned a GED
- Able to get a job for the first time in her life
- Read a book to his/her child
- Enrolled in a community college
- Wrote a letter to the newspaper or a relative
